A variety of reporting tools are available within two school days of closing your survey. The One-Click Report, Interactive Charts and Open-Ended Question Responses come standard with the OurSCHOOL student surveys. If the appropriate measures are selected, you will also receive Thematic Reports.
One-Click Reports
This quick-and-easy PDF report is ideal for administrators who want an overview of up-to-date, accurate information in seconds. The preconfigured format of the report shows school-wide, grade and sex results for each measure with OurSCHOOL norms provided for context. A quick glance at each measure makes it easy to spot patterns or anomalies.
Interactive Charts
These dynamic charts enable the busy administrator to quickly conduct in-depth analysis. Administrators can look at the results by subpopulations within a school such as grade, sex, language spoken at home, Aboriginal status, or any other drill-down criteria your school has added to the survey. Administrators can also add comparison lines and data from previous years' results to create a "story" of charts which will help to support or identify priority initiatives.
See our How to Use Roll-Up Interactive Charts (for district-level users only), How to Use Interactive Charts and How to Scrapbook articles for comprehensive walkthroughs. These resources are also available in video format.
Open-Ended Question Responses
The Open-Ended Questions you add to your school's survey allow students to express their open and honest opinions anonymously. You can review their responses through the Open-Ended Questions Report. Results are viewable through a 'word cloud' tool, providing the ability to focus on frequently mentioned topics or filter by grade or sex.
See our Open-Ended Question Responses article or video for a comprehensive walkthrough.
Thematic Reports
OurSCHOOL offers a range of preconfigured 'thematic reports' that provide administrators with in-depth analysis of specific domains. The findings are delivered in a comprehensive four-page PDF report, which also includes a literature overview. Which thematic reports you receive depends on the content included in your survey.
Student Engagement (elementary and secondary)
With leading-edge indicators on social, institutional, and intellectual engagement, this report provides administrators with powerful data. Rather than making decisions based on hunches or on feedback received from a small group of students in a school, administrators have a reliable report that quantifies the findings.
Bullying and School Safety (elementary and secondary)
This focused report presents school-level bullying and school safety data. Administrators are able to determine the type of bullying that is occurring in the school, where and when it occurs, how students respond, how safe their students feel, and other information critical to school improvement planning.
School Completion (secondary only)
This report groups several measures that can be used to examine the likelihood of school completion. Detailed information allows administrators to identify specific populations of at-risk students and gain a deeper understanding of the factors contributing to drop-outs at their school.
Career Pathways (secondary only)
The formation of a career or vocational identity is a critical developmental task of childhood and adolescence. It entails developing an understanding of one's values, attitudes, and competencies; engaging in career exploration and planning; and establishing viable career goals. While it is the individual that plays the most important role in the formation of career identity, this process is also influenced by parents, peers, and school staff. In this survey module, school-level data is gathered on the factors that support student development of career identities, as well as an assessment of their active engagement in career exploration.
See the Understanding Your Thematic Reports section for more information on our thematic reports.
